Abstract

The Starpoint School on the campus of Texas Christian University is committed to reaching children with learning disabilities. This year we started a robotics program for our 6th level students. These students decided to enter the First Lego League Challenge Program "Smart Moves". As these students fulfilled the requirements of the program we soon saw how much the team applied its knowledge of math, science, language arts, and life skills. In addition students who were reluctant to speak found their voice and found they had something important to say. They learned they could write and get the attention of the major car manufacturers. AND above all of this, the impact this team and the program had and is still having on the entire school is amazing.
