Abstract

Jim Poss entered the Babson MBA program with a combined entrepreneurial and ecological vision. Upon receiving his MBA he formed Big Belly Solar to introduce the world's first solar-powered trash compactor. So far, nearly 5,000 American-made Big Belly's have been sold around the world, with nearly 300 in MA. Like the energy efficient fluorescent light bulb, they cost more to start with but pay off many times over with the savings they product not only in dollars for their owners, but in scarce natural resources for the world.
